With new Vista computer, what spyware and firewall are needed?

I have whatever Vista comes with and have installed Avast antivirus. Do I need ZoneAlarm? Spybot S%26D? Ad-Aware? A different firewall and/or spyware?

The rule is you need 1 anti-virus, 1 firewall, %26 several anti-spyware programs, regardless of the OS.

You have your anti-virus.

Windows firewall has only inbound protection, not outbound, so it's only 陆 a firewall. It can be configured for outbound protection, but it's an absolute nightmare trying to set it, not worth the effort. I would recomend getting ZoneAlarm %26 turning off the Windows firewall.

Vista comes with Windows Defender, but that's not enuf. You need at least a couple more spyware removers. These are free %26 work well:

And you must update Windows--there have been numerous Vista updates.

And make sure you always update all these tools before running them--an out-dated program is worthless
