I have vista installed on my HP dv2000, the lights will show on the keyboard but the screen will rem

The computer lights will be on but the screen remains dark. I've purchased an external hard drive and is not sure if that could be the reason; it worked fine before.

Please change back to windows Xp. Its much better and more compatible.....This can be due to a utility conflict which does not allow your computer to show its screen.
