Is it worth it to try and upgrade a 3yr old computer to get Windows Vista?

My computer is going on 3yrs old and I would really like to get Vista for it but I know the upgrading that will need to be done will be quite a bit and I'm wondering if it's even worth it at all or if I should just purchase a new one with Vista already installed. I have a compaq w/ 768 ram and an equivalent to a pentium 3 processor w/ a 9200 series Radeon video card. Any thoughts?

This is the downside to Vista. Here's the specs:

You will need 2 GB of RAM, and at least 1 GHz processor speed, which only the very top end PIII processors could squeak by that.

I'm guessing you would need a new motherboard, new processor, more RAM.

After just that, you probably want a new computer.

But if you have XP, and it's working fine, there is no real reason to go Vista. I have three computers, all running XP, just fine.

Give microsoft some time to work out their bugs. Maybe a year or so.

Many people are regretting the early leap.

EDIT:

Just google "Vista flaws"

Maybe it's not all that bad, but some users are having difficulties, and are trying to switch back to XP. (This is based on questions I have seen on this forum).
