Well i bought a PC that cam with a pre-installed Windows Vista. Well i ended up upgrading my computer so i had to un-plug my motherboard. Then i installed everything and started it up. Then it said i needed to put in my Product Key, so i did but it said it wasnt valid. So then i bought Windows Vista and put it on my computer again with a new product key. Well im going to upgrade my motherboard soon and i was wondering, since i have a retail version now, then could i upgrade my motherboard without any problems? I need major help with this!
Where does a Retail Windows Vista install?virus scanner
Any time you change the hardware in your computer, Microsoft will make you re-activate your copy of Vista. You usually do this by calling a 1-800 number. There was no need to purchase a new copy of Vista the first time, you should have simply re-activated. Retail does not mean commercial, it simply means it came with a box.
