Is 3gb of memory good for vista or is 2gb good enough?

Not planning on doing a lot of crazy stuff like video games and stuff like that. Just want surfing the net and using certain apps to be smooth and fast.

depends on your version of vista but anything from 1 gb is ok . Also depends on what you are doing with pc , more graphic intensive programs eat up more memory also if you plan to run many programs at the same time the 2 gb should be enough unless you have money to burn then go for 3gb remember more ram the better your pc will perform and the more stable it will be just make sure your pc can handle that much memory.

Heck 1GB is good enough for running regular apps, surfing and email. 2 and 3GB's of RAM is pretty much for running graphic programs like Photoshop, After Effects, Maya and other imaging and Animation programs.
You can be just fine with 2gb if that is all your doing. Of course if there is not that much of a price increase to go up to 3gb it won't hurt you to do so.
The bigger pocket is better because you can put in more money. 3GB of RAM is OK if you plan to use it for video authoring with Photoshop or Pinnacle Studio. 2GB is just fine.
RAM is mainly eaten up by super-slick graphics, so what you're using it for should be fine.
