Should i buy the full version of windows vista if i am installing it on a hard drive partition ?

I wanted to dual-boot my computer with XP and Vista and I was wondering if I should buy the full version or the upgrade if I am installing it on a hard drive partition.

You can get either. Depending on the version of Vista you're looking to install, a full version may be cheaper that the upgrade version. You DO NOT have to install XP on the partition to install Vista. Start the Vista installation and at some point it will ask for your original XP CD and COA (serial number).

Shop around, and DON'T buy Vista at a retail store. You pay hundreds more than if you buy it online somewhere.

Roughly priced, Vista should cost -

Vista Home Basic 32 bit $100

64 bit $106

Vista Home Premium 32 bit $120

64 bit $126

Vista Business 32 bit $160

64 bit $170

Vista Ultimate 32 bit $190

64 bit $200

Hope that helps.
